Sixty years ago, Ealing studios would've turned out a movie like this with panache. The characters would be idiosyncratic and charming, the pace lively, the script deft and playful and the performances engaging. This crap "comedy" tries to go for all those attributes and fails dismally. It's bloody awful.
A rural Irish village gets a dose of viagra in its water that makes all the inhabitants horny. Four luckless single guys come across a lorryload of the stuff which they hijack. But the Viagra company put out a reward for any information of the theft and the boys have to hide it. Soon three topnotch US security experts led by Hamilton (tragic to see the former Terminator star in this garbage) are flown over to find the missing shipment which is worth more than $60 million.
They work in tandem with the quirky police and try to find the culprits. The film climaxes as it were with the villagers' delight in the new found medicine. Laugh? I'd rather become a monk. The ensemble cast are all competent players but they don't seem to possess any comic sensibility. Not once do they make you laugh, and the four leads play such losers that you're never persuaded by their so-called charm. The direction displays no feel for the subject and the comic timing is woefully off while the script is devoid of zingers. The fiddle-dee-dee music offers little compensation to boot.
Stick around for the closing credits and you'll see some choice recipes listed if you can last that long. Otherwise, be warned. Pitiful and painful, this is already one of the worst movies of the year.
