Avalon review

The Avalon slot was released more than a decade ago in 2006 and up until today, remains on the market in the iGaming space. The slot, developed by Microgaming, has a theme that resonates with the medieval era, similar to the look and feel of a typical fantasy adventure game. Microgaming is considered one of the first casino gaming providers, starting out in 1994 and has since been the software developer for many games at online casinos.

The story of Avalon is presented in vivid imagery over 20 active paylines, 3 rows and 5 reels. Apart from that, the game also comes with additional secret bonus rounds, multipliers and a number of free spins. This historical game is based on King Arthur and his sanctuary that was not only used for its healing power after battles, but was also the very place that his sword was forged. It is available to play at online operator Casino Cruise, which stocks Microgaming's creations, including Avalon.

avalon slot review 2017 embed1For most, a video slot game isn’t complete without a few bonus features to enhance game time and winning potential. The Avalon slots game seems to deliver in this regard, although the graphics may seem a tad bit outdated. Accessing a few bonus rounds is possible, but can only be triggered once 3 to 5 scatters simultaneously land on the reels. Furthermore, Avalon comes with the chance to land some free spins when additional scatters come into play.

All wins are accompanied by a multiplier, with the possibility to increase the wins by up to 7x, which gives you more chances to make up for a few wagers with no wins.  Unlike the majority of 5-reel video slots, Avalon has two wilds rather than one. This can come in handy when trying to form winning combinations as the wild is what substitutes all symbols, apart from the scatter. The treasure chest wild only becomes active during the free spins bonus round, so getting to that stage of the game may require some patience and a few spins with smaller wins along the way.

avalon slot review 2017 embed2Other not so obvious features of Avalon are the standard features of most Microgaming slots such as the gamble feature. In order to activate this, the Gamble option should be selected which will then display a deck of cards. Correctly guess the color of the card and progress to the next step, until the round is either lost or comes to an end. The gamble game adds an extra element to the slot, as an additional option to get more kick out of your bets.

The game comes with a few symbols synonymous with the medieval times and the fantasy theme and includes a Lady of the Lake, a Golden Treasure Chest, a Crown, a Silver Chalice, an Emerald Brooch and King Arthur’s Crest.

With a bet range between 0.50 coins to a high of 100 coins per spin, the payouts can prove to be worthwhile. However, depending on the value of your bets over the long term. For the full payout of 30,000 coins, it may require some patience to reach the target, but as with all slots, nothing is guaranteed. Slot game payouts are determined by a random number generator, which makes the result of each spin entirely unique.

That aside, what possibly makes Avalon an interactive video slots game, is the unique user compatibility that is simple and smooth on both pc and mobile devices. Avalon may appeal to those who have a taste for all things fantasy and adventure but may lack a few points in the design department, as it's already 11 years old (but still quite popular).
