Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip: The Complete Series (DVD)

Everybody liked Sports Night, Aaron Sorkin's first TV series, back in 1998, Everybody loved The West Wing, which ran for 7 seasons and won a bucketload of Emmys. So why, then, did everybody hate Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip so much?

One of the excuses given for the poor reception by critics and audiences alike was that people don't want to watch a TV show about what goes on behind the scenes of a TV show. Right then, so why were The Mary Tyler Moore Show (TV news), The Larry Sander Show (TV chat) and (in Australia) Frontline (Tv current affairs) so successful? go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here text to go in here

Stuart O'Connor is the Managing Editor of Screenjabber, the movie review website he co-founded with Neil Davey far too many years ago. He likes all genres, as long as the film is good (although he does enjoy the occasional bad "guilty pleasure"), and drinks way too much coffee.
