Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition announced

By Nathan Hardisty

Like with every big console release nowadays, the Mortal Kombat guys have unveiled their super-duper-hyper collector's edition. Except it’s called the "Kollector’s Edition", because poor literacy is cool!

The special edition of the forthcoming multi-platform game includes a “Kollectible” figurine of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, along with a 110+ page art book detailing The Art of Mortal Kombat, featuring original concept sketches and game art; alternate in-game Retro Ninja Costume for Ermac, inspired by the original character designs; Mortal Kombat-inspired costumes for your Xbox LIVE avatar as an exclusive for Xbox 360 copies of the game; and a selection of PS3-exclusive avatars and themes.

The Kollector's Edition figurine looks all right, but the DLC seems a bit useless, as do the PSN avatars. They're for your PlayStation Home avatar, which, let's face it, no one really uses. The art book is probably just another flick-through that no one really pays attention to, just like every single art book except for Half-Life 2's Raising the Bar. But, for only £50 it seems like a good deal compared to the price of many these days.

Mortal Kombat will be unleashed on April 21 for Xbox 360 and PS3
