The Power of Two: new Hunted gameplay video

By Nathan Hardisty

A new gameplay video for Hunted: The Demon's Forge has been released entitled The Power of Two, highlighting its co-operative gameplay. The trailer shows off some plot details such as the fact that the main antagonist pretty much has armies up his sleeve, which have constantly defeated all those who stand in their way. Along with the little detail of “Yes, he’s evil”, we also get to the nitty gritty of what to expect from the co-op play.

One of the players, Caddoc, wields massively heavy weaponry and is generally the brute of the duo. He also has poor voice acting, a trait he shares with E’Lara who wields a bow that might as well be a sniper rifle from the look of things. There’s also magic that the two can use and often combine together to get across certain obstacles. For example, we see E’Lara freezing a dude and then Caddoc super-charging into him and breaking him into little ice shards.

We also see what looks like a grenade and a complete rip-off of the Berserker from the Gears of War series. Gears at least had some bearable writing and John DiMaggio growling uncontrollably, the scene in the trailer just before the release date reveal shows just how horrible this narrative is going to be. I do hope they just allow us to skip all the cut-scenes and get straight to this whole ‘co-operative’ gameplay part.

It’s been tried before, ‘combining powers’, the only time it’s ever worked (slightly well) is in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I’m not expecting anything from Hunted: The Demon's Forge, but I like a surprise now and then.

Hunted: The Demon’s Forge launches for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on June 3 in Europe

SYNOPSIS: Hunted, a fantasy action game, is a fresh take on the classic dungeon crawl experience that delivers the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. The warrior Caddoc and the huntress E’lara must fight their way through besieged towns, sprawling dungeons, and ancient ruins as they become entwined in a tale of corruption and deceit. The two must combine Caddoc’s brute strength with E’lara’s deadly accuracy to vanquish a horde of foul creatures and untangle the mystery of the Demon’s Forge, gaining access to unstoppable magic and an arsenal of weaponry hidden by ancient puzzles along the way.
